NDTV just a year old perhaps - but has dramatically changed or we can say transformed the perception of what a news channel is in the minds of many indians ? atleast it has done it for me.In 2006 people heavily relied on the numero uno --Aaj Tak ('sabse tej' fame) which was at that time like a messiah of Indian news and information industry.The taja khabar,breaking news trends were first started by this baby from 'India Today group' and then the whole bunch of other news channels started to follow them either intentionally or else they had no other option but to follow the call.
NDTV had just commenced then and was clearly over shadowed by the 'Aaj tak' mania.Believe me nobody would have thought at that time that it would come of it's age so quickly .Today it commands respect from all quarters and scetions of people who understand what news,media and sensible journalism is all about.Truly they had a vision in their mind which took a while to unfold and reach the masses.The best part of it is that they were resolute and believed in them ,stuck to their guns in this fiercely competitive segment.
Dr Prannoy roy with his magnetic smile and charisma has been like a messianic figure.From the day one he was quite convinced it seems that if you had to be successful then you had to be different-class apart from the rest of the lot.This thought or we can say a conscious effort is also seen in the channels look,feel,content,administration,coverage and delivery.Difference,discipline has percolated down right across it's diverse portfolio.
Talking of portfolio-what does it mean ? does a news channel have a portfolio ? confused butyes today NDTV has it -NDTV 24/7 (Hindi,English),NDTV PROFIT and a battery of programmes hosted on these three with the likes of Gadjet guru,The car and the bike show,All in the family and many more.....
Truly it is redining the news & media space of indian television.It has made me believe in an age old saying 'Slow and steady wins the race' (which nowadays is not so true).Abuot others they are in a stiff competition and will have to really mature fast if at all they want to catch up with the big Indian story.Some self-proclaimed channels have literally become so pathetic and have degraded themselves both in quality and quantity.I feel sorry for Aak tak it is looking helpless,rusty,out of quality news- it is picking bits and pieces of information and making stories out of it to just drive it's TRP ratings or lets call it survival.
But yes i am confident now that NDTV has set an exapmle for others to follow our Indian journalism is all set to take off and reach new heights -just like Indian economy.
Looking at things one cannot deny the fact that
India is certainly on a move ....

Marriage : Institution or Market ?
Can anybody answer this question that is constantly pinging my mind nowadays ?.The most fundamental query or you can call it a doubt Where is love ?? I can't see it, the only things I can see clearly are degree's,caste,money,looks and what not.I am struggling to come to terms with this but as everybody's parents might put it this way - it's a normal procedure ( i have only heard of mathematical and procedures & functions in C,C++ --- HOW CAN THIS BE A PROCEDURE YAAR SAMAJH KE BAHAR HAI !!!! ) you have to go through this or else bring one home and finish the job !!! (sounds very simple isnt' it !!).
Perhaps i might be exxagerating a little bit but it is true that this should not be the way even all my friends who are in to it agree at the back of their minds.But nothing can be done since we all are somewhere down the line "part of the flow".
Now that i have gone through a couple of meetings over a couple of months i am feeling OK i am understanding the PROCEDURE and all the PARAMETERS in that as well.Let me share this with u - honestly this is the most diffcult part or phase in anybody's life.
Is decision making so difficult (yes even if everything clicks at the hindsight ).All those calculations and even those small if's and but's play a very crucial role.The most fearful part of this is that - there can not be any kind of ROLL BACK.It's better to be patient rather than messing up things in a hurry ( hurry is there but still it can wait !!!! confusing is it :) ).
Anyways this a very personal,sensitive and emotional event so let me end it here itself - yes as far as the procedure part is concerned I can confidently say that :-
It's a procedure of a language called 'love' (so enjoy it and do it fast !!!!!!)

Life in Wipro
Just 7 days old in this W.......... corporation but i am feeling the difference within me and ofcourse my company.To start with this is not a mid-sized or a growing company !!! as we always say, it is well in to it's 50's.From here on it can either be where it is or a big downslide (bhagvan kare aisa na ho job chala jaega bhai !!!!).Yes but it can definately diversify it's areas of work I am not talking about any verticals or horizontals here just that it can take a quantum leap itn it's spirit.In true sense it should go and show the Wipro way( as they proudly call it) to others who are roughing their shoulders with them and also to those who are aspiring to all SMB's.
As far as difference in me is concerned yes there is a positive side to this as I have become more calm, more matured -more like I am taking things slowly ,applying thoughts (or in other words trying to understand politics ...... which i hated to do and never did in Cybage and I am not going to do it here as well ...but as we all have studied Prevention is better than cure !!!) and yes most importantly my previous experience.Some where at the back of my mind it is playing that I have come here with a 2.5 yr's of experience (only I know what that exp is all about !!!!!) so I have to start wise and strong.
Anyways the company is really good with all the facilities on this earth given to it's employees.One can immidiately feel the difference in everything out there whether it is cafeteria's,projects,people,processes and yes the most important of all BRAND NAME.
Even if you are on bench in Wipro it doesn't matter because still you can sell yourself with that brand name almost in any market. (hard to read but it is true !!)
Anyways if i assess both I can certainly say that Wipro should play more like a mentor and should be more in consulting where as Cybage should mature fast,look back for it's future (the last decade) and should go the inorganic way with a positive mindset.
So to cut a long stroy short it's just that :-
Cybage is like a young boy who has realised his potential but still he is trying to grow with innocense (which is not possible in this big bad world) - Wipro is like a 70 year old man who is living on his pension but definately not counting his days.

Alvida Cybage !!!!
Friday the 21st Sept 07 ,don't worry not any horror movie but my last day at Cybage.
It's difficult to sink in even if i am a couple of pegs down while i am writitng this.It was a wonderful experience working in this unique company.It's not a biggie like Infy,Wipro or a TCS
nor it boasts of it's acheivements and a consistent performance year-by -year for almost a decade now,still it has it's own unique branding and slowly but surely it is making it's presence felt in this healthy as well as merky competition.
Anyways my stint in this small e-global company was enjoyable and enriching.I met people and computers from different backgrounds and makes -Bengalis,Hyderabadis,aaple Maharashtrians (the real political people) .......,Windows,MAC,Unix........... truly a wholesome lot.A great mix of excellent work culture along with quality work which is a rare combination to find now-a-days.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all the project parties (everything is free baby !!!!) ,releases even if they were not always on time and as per SCHEDULE (this one word has troubled me a lot !!),presentations & trainings on irrelevant topics at times.
We were on BENCH for almost 2-3 months ,that was a real boredom for us .....actually it kills u this is what i sincerely feel that , all people r working around u (atleast u feel that way) and u r just sitting looking at the desktop and at times literally changing your desktop WALLPAPERS or SCREENSAVERS for a refreshing change what a pity !!!.
I can never forget my leads Mr MN Kuamr,Tejas and ofcourse my project manager Mritunjoy Mitra and the entire ALTIRIS gang Shiva,Sumit,Sai,Gyanu,Ashish,Yogesh,Anand,Baba khan,Jitu,Sandy,Praful,Saket...................and many more.All ex-cybagians were and are and will remain gr8 friends esspecially Novesh,Jitu,Shrikant...........
Anyways it was a gr8 exp............two years cannot be written in one single blog.
At the end i would just say
Main jaha rahoo main kahi bhi hoo teri yaad saath hai (here it is adressed for Cybage and not any girl friend !!!! )
anyways seeya for now !! :)
